Skinny Dipped boasts an exotic range of coated almonds for the calorie-conscious ones! The word “skinny dipped” implies that their almonds have a very thin layer of coating! But are skinny dipped almonds keto?
Skinny Dipped almonds are not keto-friendly because a single serving (16 almonds) has 8g of net carbs. What’s more, the majority of those carbs come from sugar.
“But aren’t they considered healthy?”
Well, under 130 calories per serving, it’s quite a healthy dessert! But if you’ve hoped onto the keto wagon, calories aren’t a factor anymore!
In this article, we’ll find out whether you can have skinny dipped almonds on keto. I’ll also share my super-simple (yet delicious!) recipe to make your own low carb version of this dessert!

Before we jump to Skinny Dipped almonds, let’s understand whether almonds are keto on their own.
Nuts contain a good amount of healthy fats and a bit of protein. That’s why most nuts pass the keto-friendly test.
Almonds are low carb nuts packed with a lot of healthy nutrients! They’re a rich source of vitamin E, magnesium, riboflavin, copper, and proteins.
If you have been on keto for a while, I bet you have some almond based products in your kitchen shelf: almond milk, almond flour, almond butter, etc.
But what about eating raw almonds? Are they keto-friendly right off the bat?
A single serving (28 grams) of raw almonds contains:
(Source: USDA)
It means you can definitely snack on some raw almonds depending on your daily macros. You can easily include half a serving in your daily carb limit of 20 grams.
While there are nuts with a much better fat-to-carb ratio (pecans, brazil nuts, macadamia nuts), almonds are still keto-friendly in moderation.
Things start taking a U-turn when these almonds are dipped in sugary syrups! They are no longer the innocent raw almonds and turn into a dessert instead.
Skinny Dipped almonds are not at all keto-friendly since they have 8g of net carbs per serving (16 almonds). The sugar present inside can spike your insulin and throw you out of ketosis.
The name “Skinny Dipped” comes from the idea that their almonds are just slightly dipped, and have a very thin layer of coating.
In the world of diet conscious people, a low-calorie and low-sugar dessert is a sure-shot success formula! No one prefers to buy chemical and sugar loaded candies from the grocery store today.
Skinny Dipped almonds are non-GMO, gluten-free, made without artificial colors, and their chocolate is ethically sourced.
What’s more, they have a ton of flavors to choose from (dark chocolate and peanut butter being my favorite!) and come in various sizes.
They could be the perfect dessert for a calorie-conscious person. But sadly, it’s not suited for a keto diet.
Now you might be wondering: “What if I just have two pieces? Will I risk losing my hard-earned ketosis?”
Well, that depends!
First of all, having even a small bite of sugary desserts can lead to further cravings! You fought all those sugar cravings for the last few weeks.
Now you taste a drop of the elixir and boom! You are again left craving for more! There’s a high chance you’ll end up overeating and being kicked out of ketosis.
Secondly, there’s a risk of insulin spike involved. Some people are highly sensitive to sugar and may experience a blood sugar spike with even 2 pieces of skinny dipped almonds.
Your ability to tackle these carbs also depends on how much fat-adapted you are. The deeper you are into ketosis, the more flexibility you get in terms of carbs!
But hey, don’t make a sad face. I’ve got just the perfect recipe for homemade skinny dipped almonds that is 100% keto friendly!
