Newk’s Eatery serves fresh food items made from scratch in an open-concept kitchen. They have an extensive menu, but they are known for grilled & toasted sandwiches and fresh salads. What about gluten-free options at Newk’s, you ask?
Newk’s doesn’t have a dedicated gluten-free menu or any indicator for gluten-free items. They give an allergen chart from which you search for gluten-free options.
You can do that more easily on their website. But I’ve done the heavy lifting and arranged everything gluten-free on Newk’s menu below.
Also, before you order anything from Newk’s, know that cross-contamination is possible. While ordering, follow the tips I’ve shared here to lower your chances of a reaction. Here are the gluten-free options you can order at Newk’s Eatery.

On Newk’s menu, there are sandwiches, pizzas, salads, soup, mac & cheese, some sides, and beverages. They also offer desserts and cakes made in their in-house bakery.
On their website, there is a “healthy choices” section in the menu bar. There, you’ll find lists of dishes suitable for different types of diets. For example, they’ve mentioned all the items one can have on paleo, keto, or a vegetarian diet.
In terms of gluten-free, Newk’s mainly offers large salads with an option to add extra protein to make them more filling. Apart from salads, they have packaged chips and cauliflower crust pizzas. You can order all of their pizzas gluten-free.

You might think it’s an obvious thing. But at some Newk’s, the staff may accidentally bring your salads with croutons even after your warning.
And when you ask to remake that salad, they may only pick out the croutons and serve the same salad again. And you know what may happen after that.
To be safe, avoid ordering salads that contain croutons. And if this incident happens to you, ask for a different salad.
You may order a gluten-free salad, but the chef may not be knowledgeable about cross-contamination. So they may start putting in the greens wearing the same gloves with which they touched croutons.
So inform them that you’re allergic to gluten and ask them to change their gloves and clean the prep area before making your food.
Fortunately, Newk’s has an open-concept kitchen. So, you can watch them as they make your order and call out if they make any mistakes.
Generally, you’ll find a physical allergen chart in the store. But they may not be clear and helpful. On their website, Newk’s has an allergen filter.
Using that filter, you can eliminate gluten, wheat, and other ingredients you’re allergic to and find a clear list of dishes you can order.
When you order food online, you don’t know whether or not the staff cared about cross-contamination. The chef may have cut your salad using an uncleaned knife and chopping board.
So, even if you order a gluten-free salad, it can have traces of croutons or tortilla chips. But when you order in-store, you can keep an eye on them as they prepare your salad.
Newk’s Eatery is not a dedicated gluten-free restaurant. They work with every allergen in their kitchen and have a shared cooking and prep area.
Also, the staff at many of Newk’s locations may not be well-trained in handling cross-contamination.
Always alert the manager and server about your allergy so that they can make better arrangements for you.
