Smokey Bones is a casual dining restaurant that specializes in meats cooked on barbeque and bonfire. They serve various kinds of meats like grilled chicken, smoked pork, fried wings, and more. But does Smokey Bones serve anything keto?

Well, you can order a plate of Texas-Style Beef Brisket along with a side salad and garlic butter sauce to flavor the meat. The garlic butter will complement the smokey beef brisket and the fresh salad will give a break from the oiliness.

At Smokey bones they serve a variety of meats like chicken, pork, different parts of beef, seafood, etc. And to prepare them they use methods like grilling, roasting, smoking, barbecuing, and frying.

You can either order them as a main dish like chicken wings, or fire-grilled salmons, or they can come as part of a dish like a burger, salad, soup, or sandwich.

Meat is a superb choice in the keto diet due to its high-fat content. However, some meats are higher in carbs than others. How they are prepared and served also affects their carb count.

For Instance, Chicken Breast is higher in carbs than Chicken Tender. Similarly, grilled chicken would be lower in carbs than fried chicken, since fried chicken requires battering.

And, meat with garlic butter would be low in carbs as compared to meat glazed in teriyaki sauce. So, you have to be careful with your choice.

Smokey bones also have a separate menu for gluten-sensitive people. It can be found at the bottom of the All menu section along with the allergen information. There they provide alternatives to buns and some of their gluten-free sauces.

Here are some tips you can use while dining in or ordering something from Smokey Bones:

  • Their burgers and sandwiches can easily be turned keto by swapping the traditional buns with lettuce wrap. You can either order from their list of burgers or build your own. There is a wide selection of toppings on their menu and most of them are keto-friendly. 
  • Avoid the garlic bread that comes as a side with the meat dishes. To wipe out the oiliness, order a side salad instead. 
  • Avoid the croutons, baked potatoes, and corns that come as part of salads and soups. After removing one or two ingredients, many of their salads and soups will become keto-friendly.
  • The main aspect of ordering keto at Smoky Bones is portion control. It can be done by either sharing the dish with others or eating some on the spot and saving some of it for later. 
  • If you or someone in your group is gluten sensitive, order from their gluten-free menu rather than the normal menu. Also, let the server know about this so they can take extra precautions.
  • In terms of beverages, order plain water instead of sodas and teas. They are filled with sweeteners and artificial colors. And they don’t add to your health.
  • Avoid ordering from the appetizers, tacos, wings, sides, dessert, and beverage section of their menu. They have fewer or no keto-friendly options at all. The ones that are keto are mentioned below.
